Digital camera images played on TV?

Q) 1. If I connect my Pentax Optio 330GS directly via cable to the video input of my TV, the image quality is good. If I transfer images to CD and play them on my DVD player to the TV, image quality is much reduced, even if image files are not compressed. Also, there are problems with sizing on the TV screen such that I have to change the image size on the CD to fill the TV screen. 2. If I rewrite edited image files from my PC back to the memory card and attempt to play these on the camera screen, I get error messages to the effect that the camera cannot read the file format. Any suggestions please?

A) Item 1. My guess (and that is all it is) would be that your DVD has on-board software to render your images. I am assuming the format is jpeg. This is a nice feature, but the DVD player must work in a lot of different modes, and to save costs, the rendering algorithm might be pretty basic. If you can arrange it, try playing the images via the s-video output of a laptop computer, from the CD. If this gives a good image, your DVD player is to blame. Conversely, if the laptop output is no better, then despite your impression, the method of burning the CD is compressing the files. Item 2: Are you sure the image is saved in the same format; jpeg? Have you kept the paths (DCIM/Pentax, or similar) that the camera uses? If yes to both, the camera should be able to read it.

A) most images don't link to their source.

show images in opera?

Q) my opera browser has cached images selected by default. when i open the browser i need to manually select 'show images' in order to see the images. how do i make it 'show images' without having to select it manually.

A) are you saying that in Tools/Preferences/Web Pages, it always defaults back to chached images, even after you've changed it to All Images and pressed OK? If so I'd guess that there is something wrong with your install, and it's having trouble saving your prefs, in which case I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling. If you'vew got loads of favorites you can export these by clicking File/Import&Export.

abortion graphic images?

Q) Last week I asked why prochoice objected to the showing of graphic images of aborted babies. I was amazed that a lot of you thought the images were fake and were even likening it to images of brain surgery which I agree one would'nt want to see.THE big difference is brain surgery is lifesaving ,abortion is murder . At my daughter's 12 week scan what I saw was a fully formed baby with arms legs and full facial features moving around and even putting his/her wee hand to the mouth So to say these images of aborted babies are fake IS A BIG COPOUT. that is why prochoice object so strongly.

A) I think the reason is that prochoice doesn't want pregnant girls or women faced with the truth of what they are about to do. As long as they can keep them in the dark about how well formed their babies are, and the fact that it is indeed a little human they are about to 'terminate', the money making scheme can continue. Years ago, before medicine had the technology to show that the babies were not 'just a little blob of tissue', women were duped into thinking they weren't actually killing a BABY, but just a cluster of cells. With the advance in technology, there is no longer any denying that what is residing in their uterus is a CHILD, and that it is obviously alive, and that to change that status, they must kill it. Now the woman must make a choice to kill her own offspring. How sad. I can't imagine making that choice, no matter the reason. Then years later to decide, for whatever reason, that another child gets to live, but I had to kill its brother or sister because it wasn't a 'convenient' time to be a mom? I still say that the 'choice' in an unwanted pregnancy ends at "Do I keep the baby or give it up for adoption to a loving home?" Murder is not a choice, it's a CRIME!

Inserting Images?

Q) Inserting Images.? I would like to insert an image on a thread in a forum that I use regular. How do I do it? I have the image on my pictures

A) This depends on what forum you are wanting to post on, as not all forums use the same posting method. Some forums require that you use a service that will host your image that is to be embedded into the thread. since i am unsure of the policy of the forum you are wondering about, i suggest you read their help files to see what their policy is, or re-post your question with more details. if you are looking for a free image hosting site i have listed several below. hope this helps

hi i need help with google images. Can i add my personal images on images.google.com for the whole world.?

Q) hi i need help with google images. Can i add my personal images on images.google.com for the whole world to see and on yahoo images as well if possible. if yes then could you tell me the how to do it.

A) I could be wrong, but I don't think that you can just add your own images. The way that I understand it is that when you type in a name into Google Images it will search all of the websites that have images with that name or caption. When it finds some websites that match your phrase that you typed in it will display that image. So you can't just upload images, but if you post them in a website anybody can see them through Google or some other search engine. Hope this helps.

make ,the images on my website appear faster?

Q) Hi, I have a website currently containing JPEG images which are taking ages to appear. I have been given two pieces of advice; 1) change the image format to GIF, 2) put the html code <img src=”mypic.jpg”> into the page in order to make the pics appear more quickly. Unfortunately, as I am new websites, html, etc I am not sure how I can change the images to GIF (what software do I need to use?) and with regards to the html, I’m not sure where I need to insert it in the page. Can anyone help? Much appreciated.

A) Have you resized your images to an appropriate resolution for the web? This means loading them in a graphics program and resizing them, not specifying in HTML the size you want them to appear. The former will reduce the graphic size, the latter will just load a really large photo into a really small space. There is also javascript you can get to preload your images.

Images are not visable in Email I receive.?

Q) There are boxes where the images should be, but no images. This has been happening for a while now, but it was not always this way. One day I was able to view images in the E-Mails then I wasn't. The images are browser viewable formats, ie.: png, jpg, gif... The images are viewable if I follow the "My Photos" and "My Attachments" ShortCuts (bottom left of the screen), they are just not in the body of E-Mail itself. I have tried changing settings - like setting "Image Blocking" to "Don't block any images" - things like this have no effect. It is the same in both FireFox and IE, on multiple computers. There is not a button at the bottom for viewing HTML. In IE I can right-click on the image and select "Show Picture" but this has no effect. Does anyone know how I keep Yahoo from slicing and dicing my E-Mail? In response to Richo247: Both browsers are recent installs (new hard-drive). But the sender(s) may not be using MIME. I will test this, thanks. Things like PDF files do work, attachments do download. It is just anoying to receive E-Mail and find that I need to read the letter "here", then view the pictures "there." Again, I will look into MIME. Thanks.

A) There are several reasons why your attachment might not be showing properly: You might have problems viewing an attachment if your browser is not properly configured to view that type of file. Usually, the easiest solution is to upgrade your browser to the most recent version: Download the Firefox browser Download the Internet Explorer browser If you're having trouble reading an Adobe PDF file, you'll need to install the Adobe Acrobat Reader, which allows you to open and read these types of files.. You might also have problems viewing an attachment if it was sent in an unreadable "encoding type." When a message is sent, the sender might be able to choose an encoding type. If possible, the sender should use MIME encoding.

Javascript rotating Images?

Q) how can I change 3 images on a html page several times, like a slot machine so that it scrolls and use a timer to make them change each time. myimages = 0 machine= [ "images/bear.gif", "images/dog.gif", "images/cat.gif", "images/goat.gif", "images/sheep.gif", "images/bird.gif", "images/snake.gif", "images/lizard.gif", "images/lion.gif", ] function random(animal) { myimages = Math.floor(Math.random() * 8) x= document.getElementById(animal) x.src = drum[myimages] return false } function move() { random('pic0') random('pic1') random('pic2') }

A) You might want to try investigating the function called setTimeout() which will allow you to set a timer to call a function after a specified number of seconds. So how will it work? Well, when you first load the page you call your random function, at the end you setup a setTimeout() function which calls your random function again. Each time you call the random function you reset the pictures you want to change with the code you are using there. function random(animal) { myimages = Math.floor(Math.random() * 8) x = document.getElementById( "animal" ); x.src = drum[myimages]; var t = setTimeout("random(animal)", 5000); } Now this is a basic function and largely untested, but you could easily add all three images in this one function and have the setTimeout call itself to change all three at the same time. Or you can create an animation by setting up another function that calls three different functions at different specified times with three setTimeout calls. Check out the link provided below for some more examples of how you can do this. Remember the trick is to use the setTimeout to call a function in which itself has another setTimeout call (its a sort of recursion). Hope this helps!

actuel images of dragonball AF?

Q) http://images.myfavoritegames.com/gallery-db-z-gt-x/Dragonball_AF/dragonballafsupersaiyan5goku2.jpg http://images.myfavoritegames.com/gallery-db-z-gt-x/Dragonball_AF/DragonballAFGotor.jpg http://images.myfavoritegames.com/gallery-db-z-gt-x/Dragonball_AF/DBZ_-_SSJ_Pan_Wallpaper_1.jpg http://images.myfavoritegames.com/gallery-db-z-gt-x/Dragonball_AF/dragonballafsupersaiyan5goku3.jpg http://images.myfavoritegames.com/gallery-db-z-gt-x/Dragonball_AF/yamtien.jpg http://images.myfavoritegames.com/gallery-db-z-gt-x/Dragonball_AF/cell_jr.jpg http://images.myfavoritegames.com/gallery-db-z-gt-x/Dragonball_AF/radditz.jpg http://images.myfavoritegames.com/gallery-db-z-gt-x/Dragonball_AF/dragonballafsupersaiyansomethinggoku.jpg

A) As much as I wish there was a new Dragonball series, such as AF, unfortunately, there isn't. It's too bad, too, because I really like the original SS5 Goku images which was published years ago, along with the SS Pan image you posted, & some others I've seen such as SS Nappa, & SS3 Vegeta.

Images and multimedia hosted in a secondary (free) host .?

Q) If i have my website hosted in myhost.com (there the DNS of my domain goes) And in order to save bandwitdth i put my images at flickr or another free host . 1) Is that posible ? 2) is it possible if my site is commercial ? 3) does any free image hosting site allow commercial purpose hosting in it ? and flickr ? 4) does imageshack and tinypic (and their "brothers" allow this ? and do they delete the images after some time ? 5) which free image host site that is fast as flickr and does not delete the images and allow commercial stuff you may reccomand ? 6)can i use a "normal free host" in order to keep my images for viewing from myhost.com (that because the free host allow only one domain) ? Thanks

A) I can't answer all your questions there, but I'll tell you that although it is possible, it is not generally practiced due to the fact that it would slow down your website. Whoever is going to visit your website will be making connections to multiple hosts, and that's generally a problem. So, it really depends on what you are looking for, performance, or just cheap hosting. Maybe you should look for a host that would not restrict you on bandwidth so much and also optimize your images. In terms of legal problem, you would want to read the statement you get while registering. Also, another thing is that if you want your site to be listed on something like google, they might rank you bad just cause of cross-linked images.

Java image loading, lots of images...is it possible?

Q) i have about 10 images 1000 X 600( backgrounds) size. And about 200 of size 300 X 400( the sprites). Everything was going good until i added the last 100 images of 300 X 400,. Now the images load and then after a while the sprite images which are loaded in arrays and they loop to form an animation...some of the images start to disappear, so that the sprite starts to flash with images missing. is this a memory problem or just me not coding right? all are GIFs except the backgrounds are JPGS How are you starting the JVM? Is it possible that it is getting into memory exhaustion problems? Are there any places in your code where you catch and ignore exceptions? Which platform are you running on? Yes i catch and ignore exceptions. I'm running AppletLauncher in macos x. The thing i've noticed toois: the thing i'm making is a game. and the player has many moves. if i just push and make some moves like Punch and walk..i don't get the flashing and disapeaering of images. until , i push another key that brings up animations ( jump, etc) which have more images in the array.( jump has about 20, punch only has 3) . I can keep pushing PUNCH and if i don't push any other move, no errors, but if i start combining, punch and all the other moves( i have punch, jump, spin kick, walk, etc)then suddenly the images slow downnn.and then they disappear

Images and copyright?

Q) I have a question about images and copyright laws. If you do a google search for a specific image and you cut parts of it out and did the same for other images and then merged it all together so it made a completely new picture - who owns the copy right to this new image? You? Or all the people who initially made the other images? Also is it breaking copy right laws if you edit an image and use it?

A) What you are asking to do is illegal. You do not own the original copyright of the original images so you do not have the right to edit them into an image you can copyright. Any image derived from editing previous images is still owned by the copyright holder of the original image. You have to have ownership or permission and the permission has to be in written form.

How to export many images in one image as tiff format ?

Q) Hi Everyone. Just few day before i got one image included 9 images its in tiff format. when i import that image in anyphoto editing software its showing only front image. And u Can see that image in Windows pictures & Fax Viewers its showing 9 images and some tags automatically appears at the bottom Can some body plz tell how to export those images in one image as a tiff format. I am sorry i couldn't show u an example of that. thanks & regards

A) if i understand u correctly, all your 9 images are kept in separate layers in the tiff file. In your photo editing software, obviously it only shows you the image in the topmost layer. You can hide each layer to reveal the layer underneath it. What photo editing software are you using? If you are using Photoshop, go to Window > Layers to see layers. Hope this helps.

Animating images displaying them in sequence on a workstation at a rate of at least 15 images per second over?

Q) Suppose you have a collection of 500 large images stored in files, one image per file, and you wish to "animate" these images by displaying them in sequence on a workstation at a rate of at least 15 images per second over a high-speed network. Your secondary storage consists of a disk farm with 30 disk drives, if you request it. Your drives are guaranteed to perform I/O at a steady rate of 2 megabytes per second. Each image is 3 megabytes in size. Network transmission speeds are not a problem. a. Describe in broad terms the steps involved in doing such and animation in real time from disk? b. Describe the performance issues that you have to consider in implementing the animation. Use numbers? c. How might you configure your I/O system to achieve the desired performance?

A) To start with you have to use 24 fps (frames per second). That is the video standard and all time code is based on that.

rollover images in DREAMWEAVER?

Q) I am using Dreamweaver MX 2004 and trying to create a rollover image effect. I entered the images needed in both "Original Image" and "Rollover Image" and went thru all of the steps, but when I click Ok, a copy of the original image is copied and pasted right next to the actual original image!?!?! What is that all about? FYI, I am not code saavy, nor that knowledgable about web design.... if anyone could help me I would appreciate it.

A) To insert a rollover image, you must have two images: the primary image and a the secondary image. Both images in a rollover should be the same size; if the images are not the same size, Dreamweaver automatically resizes the second image to match the properties of the first image. In the Document window, place the insertion point where you want the rollover to appear. Select Insert > Interactive Images > Rollover Image. Or, it might be: Insert > Image Objects > Rollover Image. (depends on DW version). The Insert Rollover Image dialog box should appear. The reason you see two images is because you are putting your original image on the page before running the dialogue box. Don't. The dialogue box automatically adds the image to the page: so you are seeing it twice. I would recommend using CSS instead of javascript to change out your image. This DW (Dreamweaver) way adds tons of code to your page, whereas you could do the same effect with css in just a few lines, and thereby seperate the design from the HTML. Good luck.

can the images on rotten.com cause ptsd?

Q) i used to like looking at the pictures on this site, and i would watch faces of death films when i was about 13 because i thought i was "tough". Now, 4 years later, i still get nightmares about it, and i can't seem to get away from disturbing images. my history book i had in junior year had an image of a monk burning hmself, and whenever i do an image search for marylin monroe, i always get an autopsy picture. Whenever i see these images, i get a little scared, and they go away instantly, but at night, the nightmares come.I rarely do image searches of deceased people for fear of autopsy pictures and i'm afraid to look for images that may contain keywords for disturbing images. could this be ptsd?

A) No it's not PTSD you have to actuallt experience something or witness something truly disturbing to have it affect you enough to suffer from PTSD plus with PTSD you have more than just nightmares. Sounds like with you your just freaking yourself out kinda like a scary movie will do to you. When you go to sleep at night and those images start coming just try to push them out of your head and think about things that happened that day or things that make you happy. And of course don't look at any more of those images. You need to replace those graphic images with good ones. I'm 35 and have seen those images on Rotten.com and they freak me out too, so just stay off that site and sweet dreams to you.
