Q) wanting to go to australia for a year in may. i want to get the cheapest possible flights, like cheap cheap!!!! please help me!!!

A) Having lived in England since 1990 and regularly, every one to two years, return to Perth. I havee found that for a flight that takes close to 24 hours the cheapest is not always the best. so if you want to arrive in Oz ready to party or what ever then I highly recommend Singapore Airlines as by far the best. These may not be the cheapest but they are usually a lot cheaper than QANTAS or BA (bloody awful in my translation). They also have screens in the backs of the seats with an amazing selection of movies, TV and Nintendo games to keep you occupied for the duration of the flight. The last time I flew home there was a choice of about 20 movies, new releases and older ones. Others worth considering are Cathay Pacific or Emirates. I haven't used the Virgin airline service as yet so I can't compare them. Singapore's Changi Airport has also got to be the best Airport in the world without a doubt. Almost worth going just for that. Hey enjoy the trip and try to get to the West coast as it is very beautiful.

Flights to Australia?

Q) I am going to australia next summer. When is the best time to book flights (when will they be cheapest)?

A) i booked about 8 mths before i went, and it was quite cheap, and gave me about 6 mths to pay, which was brilliant, went with emirates check on internet, and look for best price and have fun, its a life changing experience

Booking flights to melbourne, Australia, do i need an ETA/visa?

Q) Hi i am booking flights to australia. Someone told me that i might need an ETA (short term visa) to go there. I am only going for 2 weeks. Do i need to apply for one or is this already included within the price of the flights when you book them? I am travelling from England.

A) No it is not included with the flight. You have to get a visa for visiting Australia. Your travel agent can do this for you but you will have to pay. I think mine was about 20 pounds.

I want to go to Australia over Xmas..... cheap flights etc??

Q) I'm wanting to go to Australia over Christmas and New Year for about three weeks with my husband. We would like a stop over for one or two nights in Asia somewhere. I've had a quick look on the internet but the flights seem really expensive. Has anyone got any experience and know any good websites? A) Also go to a few travel agents.I was on the Internet a couple of months ago to buy flights from Australia to Ireland return.I was gobsmacked at the prices.I found it way cheaper to buy my tickets through a travel agent.

Best Time to Book Flights from UK to Australia for Christmas?

Q) I want to fly to Australia on the 20th of December and return to the UK on the 4th of January. These dates are not flexible. At the moment there doesn't seem to be many cheap flights for these dates. When is the optimal time to book flights to get the best price for these dates? Is it now, should I wait a couple of months, or should I leave it to the last minute? This question is simply about the best time to book. Please do not guess, suggest airlines or websites. Qualified answers only please, preferably from travel professionals or at very least, travellers with first hand experience travelling on these dates and who have monitored the prices over the period of a year.

A) I work in the aviation industry and have done for many years. Does that qualify me? I'll tell you now that you will not get cheap flights for these dates. The lowest fares will have already sold and they will only get higher as the year progresses. That's the way the industry works. If you leave it too late there's not a hope of finding any availability. You're looking at the absolute optimum time to be travelling to Oz. Book now to avoid disappointment, especially as your dates aren't flexible.

Cheap flights from Australia to New Zealand?

Q) Does anyone know of any cheap direct (and I stress the DIRECT PART) flights doing Adeliade to Auckland retun flights in JUNE?

A) I always used to use Virgin Blue (I think thats what it was called anyway) when I made the trip. Always seemed a very reasonable price. Hope that helps.

Q) Hi, just looking for advise! planning on going to australia in april next year. i'll be flying out from dublin. has anyone any ideas whats the cheapest way around getting to australia? im not a student so i dont get the j1 or whatever its called, but i am under 26. i'd like to visit thailand for awhile too or india. but i want to go around this the cheapest way.....its not that im a moneyhog or anything, just that i've just decided to go and i aint some one who saves money....i prefer to give it to my local pub!!!! :o) i'd really appreciate any help.....thanks in advance!

A) Your best bet is to go to your local travel agent and ask when is the cheapest time to go to Australia is and to also see if any airlines have any sales on their tickets,but usually when airlines have sales on their tickets you usually have less time to pay of the ticket.When your in the travel agents ask about Cathay pacific as they also have really cheap flights.I have never flown with them but my Mam used to fly with them all the time when she would visit me in Ireland and says they are really good.I have a friend coming out to Australia in a couple of weeks from Ireland and she is flying with Cathay pacific.She got her ticket for 800 Euro return and then her taxes were a couple hundred.I don't know about India but I am pretty sure that Cathay pacific stop at Thailand as a stopover and there shouldn't be a problem with you going there if that's what you want to do,but if you wanted to go to both Thailand and India,you would probably have to get a around the world ticket which can be very pricey most of the time now.I hope I was of some help.Take care.

Q) My best mate and his wife have recently moved to Brisbane and it is our intentention to visit them for a few weeks sometime during 2007. I've heard that an amalgamation of buget airlines, headed up by that nice Mr Branson and Mr Stelios are getting together to offer cheap long haul flights around the world. Anyone know if this is a fact, if so when it will happen, and roughly how much they are likely to charge for say 2 adults and 2 kids, return to Aus?

A) I read in the papers yesterday that Richard Branson is allegedly in talks with Malaysia air to do flights from London to Malaysia for £49, it was mentioned about Stelios been involved in the cheap round the world offers too, guess they will happen but it could take about a year to sort out, have you tried Travelmood on the net, they have some really good deals for Australia at the moment if you can book by Valentines day, my hubby and I are going at Easter and got our flights for just under £1.400 for the pair of us and were doing stopovers in Singapore and San Francisco in that price too, hope you manage to get a good deal and get to Australia to see your friends soon, good luck and a happy new year to you and yours.

A) ok u will defintely find cheaper first class fares if u r willing to connect...Emirates, Etihad, Gulf Air, some Asian airlines all offer cheaper premium fares with top notch service becuase theres so much competition outside of London heading east particularly to the far east and aussie

I am trying to book 2 flights to Australia Jan/Feb seems dear When do flight prices go down .?

A) Prices go down when the weather starts getting a bit colder (over there I mean) and when school is in session. So anytime from late March through to about September. Book as far in advance as possible to get the cheapest fares. Also, if you can be flexible about which day of the week you can fly then this often makes a difference - e.g. it will be more expensive to depart the UK on a Friday or Saturday.

A) It depends on the place you are coming from. But you have to check all you airline options. Checking one or two airlines is not enough. You have to check all possible airlines.

A) Try going to http://www.bbcarefreetravel.com and go to book travel they usually have cheap flights. They also have really good deals if you are going to book a hotel with it.

A) Try STA travel website (www.statravel.com). They usually have some good deals, not just for students.

A) 2 options. Stick with the heavy weight airlines in QANTAS, United and Air New Zealand OR Mix it up. eg. You want to get to sydney cheap. Why dont you go on Hawaiian airlines website, get a price from LAX to Honolulu (check the Sydney price as well) but from honolulu, Australian budget airline Jetstar goes from Honolulu to Sydney later on in the year. Thats just one idea. Its more expensive going throgh asia but i think that the hawaiian/jetstar combo is pretty good!!

Hi, i have a question about getting international flights from Australia..?

Q) I know that in the US, if i apply to be a courier for shipping companies, they normally sell me cheap international airline tickets. However, i can't seemed to find one in Australia..anyone had experience with such a thing? Kind help would be much appreciated.

A) I once contracted with a courier service in the US, and they actually had me fly to Australia and collect a package for them there. I do not know of any courier companies in Australia. Good luck!

Melbourne to Hobart about one hour Hobart to Sydney (if not via Melbourne) about 1.5 hours Sydney to Brisbane about 2 hours 15 minutes Brisbane to Cairns about 2 hours 30 minutes And don't believe what that weird guy called Slartibartfast is saying. It's only crap!
